Takeda will be granted exclusive worldwide rights under Insilico deal to develop, manufacture and commercialize new drugs - WSJ

Takeda Pharmaceutical Company has entered into a collaborative agreement with Insilico Medicine, granting the Japanese firm exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize new drugs resulting from the partnership. The collaboration leverages Insilico’s AI-driven drug discovery platforms, including PandaOmics and Chemistry42, to accelerate the identification and development of novel therapeutics for central nervous system and autoimmune diseases. Under the terms of the agreement, Takeda will co-develop at least two research programs with Insilico and is eligible to receive R&D funding support of up to several tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars for each program. Insilico, in turn, will benefit from milestone and royalty payments tied to the progress and commercial success of the programs. This partnership reflects a growing trend of pharmaceutical companies outsourcing early-stage discovery to AI-enabled biotech firms to reduce time-to-market and clinical risk. The deal also highlights the increasing institutional adoption of artificial intelligence in drug development, with AI as core infrastructure for biomedical innovation.
