Fonterra says Bruce Hassall to retire from board in Sept.

Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd has announced that Bruce Hassall will retire from its board in September 2026. Hassall, who has served as a director of the New Zealand dairy giant, will step down following the conclusion of his current term. No immediate successor has been named, and the board will proceed with its standard process for selecting a replacement.

The announcement comes amid a broader reorganisation of Fonterra’s leadership structure, which was formalised in June 2026. The company is transitioning from a channel-led to a market-led leadership model to enhance strategic delivery and value growth. This shift includes new appointments such as Teh-han Chow as CEO Greater China and Gaby Amade as President Global Markets, alongside Elisa Giusti’s role as Chief Growth and Strategy Officer.

Fonterra’s CEO, Richard Allen, has stated that the changes are intended to strengthen accountability and accelerate progress in the company’s global operations. The retirement of Hassall is seen as part of the broader leadership evolution, though the company has not indicated any direct link between the two developments.
