Bezos: Not thinking about Series C funding quite yet
Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and one of the world’s most prominent investors, has not indicated any immediate plans to pursue Series C funding for his latest ventures, despite his extensive history of supporting early-stage companies. Bezos has long been active in venture capital through Bezos Expeditions, his personal investment firm, which has backed a range of startups across diverse sectors including education, healthcare, and technology. However, recent developments suggest his focus is shifting toward larger-scale initiatives.
Bezos is currently in early discussions to raise $100 billion for a new fund aimed at acquiring and revamping manufacturing firms using artificial intelligence and automation technologies. This initiative, described as a “manufacturing transformation vehicle,” would target major industrial sectors such as chipmaking, defense, and aerospace. The proposed fund would rival the size of SoftBank’s Vision Fund and represents a significant departure from traditional venture capital strategies.
In addition, Bezos has taken on a leadership role at Project Prometheus, a startup focused on developing AI models that simulate the physical world. The company is separately in talks to raise up to $6 billion in funding. These efforts highlight Bezos’s current strategic emphasis on large-scale industrial transformation and AI-driven innovation, rather than early-stage venture capital rounds such as Series C.
