According to Odaily, a senior Iranian source stated, "The US leaking information about canceling the talks demonstrates its lack of sincerity." The source indicated that Iran will not accept negotiations on any issue other than the nuclear program. Two US officials earlier revealed that the US government formally informed Iran on the 4th that it rejected Iran's request to change the location and format of the talks originally scheduled for the 6th. The two sides had previously agreed to hold the talks in Istanbul with the participation of multiple observers, but on the 3rd, Iran requested that the negotiations be moved to Oman and conducted bilaterally. After assessment, the US believed that this move could weaken the effectiveness of multilateral coordination and therefore insisted on the original arrangement.
