We’re excited to announce the launch of the 2026 WeCoded Challenge!
This year marks our ninth year celebrating the voices of underrepresented and marginalized developers on DEV. Our journey began in 2017 with Nevertheless, She Coded, a movement centered on solidarity and storytelling. Since then, we’ve grown and evolved, transitioning to WeCoded in 2023 to broaden our embrace of the community and launching our first official challenge last year.
For 2026, we are continuing this celebration by offering a space for both reflection and creation. While our classic writing prompt returns for those who wish to share their personal journeys and advice, we are also introducing a brand-new way to participate through code and visual expression.

Frontend Art: Gender Equity
Draw what comes to mind for you when you think of gender equity in tech.
Whether it’s a symbolic representation of the "glass ceiling" being shattered, a detailed portrait of a pioneer who paved the way, or a piece of abstract art representing the strength of a diverse community, we want to see your interpretation through code. You may use any frontend tools for this prompt.
