Brazil's Prio says it has opened the fourth producing well at the Wahoo field - filing
Brazilian independent oil and gas company PRIO has opened the fourth producing well at its Wahoo field in the Campos Basin off the coast of Brazil, according to recent developments. This follows the phased commissioning of the field, which began with the startup of the first well and continued with the second and third wells after granting of the operating license by the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Natural Renewable Resources (Ibama).
The Wahoo field is currently producing at a stabilized rate of 32,000 barrels of oil per day with three producing wells. With the fourth well now online, the company plans to limit production to 40,000 barrels of oil per day. The project, which involves a subsea tie-back to the FPSO Valente (formerly FPSO Frade), has reached mechanical completion and is in the commissioning phase.
PRIO has also received an amendment to its drilling license for the Frade field, allowing 14 new wells. The phased approach to production aligns with the company’s strategy to manage output while ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
