Valeo - partnership targets among others AI-driven data center chip and rack power increases

Valeo, a global leader in thermal systems, has expanded its strategic focus on liquid cooling solutions for data centers, with a particular emphasis on addressing the rising power demands of AI-driven computing. The company has formed multiple partnerships to develop advanced cooling technologies that support high-density server environments, including collaborations with 2CRSi and ZutaCore. These initiatives aim to enhance thermal efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve the sustainability of data center operations.

In a key development, Valeo and 2CRSi announced a strategic partnership to design compact, autonomous cooling systems tailored for edge data centers, particularly in challenging environments such as those found in India’s 5G expansion. The collaboration leverages Valeo’s automotive-grade thermal expertise and 2CRSi’s server design capabilities to create immersion-cooled solutions that operate reliably in extreme conditions, including high temperatures, humidity, and dust. The first prototype was showcased at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, with plans for industrialization and production set for late 2026.

Simultaneously, Valeo and ZutaCore signed a four-year commercial agreement to develop waterless two-phase direct-on-chip cooling solutions. This technology, which can cool processors with power demands exceeding 1,500 watts, is designed for high-performance computing (HPC), AI, and machine learning workloads. The Valeo Heat Reuse Unit (HRU), a key component of the solution, delivers 60kW of cooling power in a compact 3U form factor and is delivered to ZutaCore in the second half of 2024.

These partnerships reflect Valeo’s broader strategy to apply its automotive thermal management expertise to the data center industry. As AI and edge computing continue to drive higher power densities, the demand for efficient and sustainable cooling solutions is expected to grow. Valeo’s initiatives position the company to capitalize on this trend while supporting the industry’s transition toward greener infrastructure.
