Brazil's 2026/27 coffee harvest hits 52%, from 60% a year ago, says Safra S & Mercado

Arabica coffee futures remain under pressure as Brazil advances its 2026/27 coffee harvest, with Safras & Mercado reporting that 52% of the crop harvested, down from 60% at the same time last year. The slower pace reflects a larger overall harvest volume compared to the previous year. S&M estimates Brazil’s total production at 75.65 million bags, with Arabica expected to account for approximately 47.5 million bags and Robusta for 24.5 million bags.

Despite the progress, producers are marketing the new crop selectively due to current price levels, which remain subdued amid expectations of a supply surplus. Certified stocks in New York have continued to decline, standing at 412,422 bags, while London’s certified stocks totaled 622,000 bags as of June 4. Market participants are also monitoring weather conditions in key Brazilian producing regions, with rain expected in parts of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, potentially affecting harvest operations.

Meanwhile, global coffee markets remain sensitive to Brazil’s output, the world’s largest coffee producer, as traders assess the balance between supply and demand dynamics.
