Ambani: Day to day management transfer at Reliance complete

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has completed the transfer of day-to-day management responsibilities to the next generation of leadership, as announced by Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani during the company’s recent Annual General Meeting. Ambani emphasized that his children—Akash, Isha, and Anant—are being mentored to lead the company’s core businesses, including Jio, Retail, and New Energy.

Akash Ambani has assumed leadership of Jio Platforms, the digital services arm of Reliance, which includes the company’s telecommunications and technology initiatives. Isha Ambani leads Reliance Retail, the largest organized retail chain in India, overseeing a vast network of stores and supply-chain operations. Anant Ambani has taken charge of Reliance’s New Energy business, which focuses on renewable energy and clean technology.

Despite the leadership transition, Mukesh Ambani stated that he will continue to provide hands-on leadership and strategic guidance to the company. The transition follows years of preparation and reflects the company’s long-term succession planning. Ambani reiterated his commitment to expanding Reliance’s digital infrastructure, including the rollout of 5G services and the development of ultra-affordable smartphones in collaboration with Google.

The company’s market capitalization currently stands at approximately $224 billion, with Reliance Retail and Jio Platforms contributing significantly to its revenue streams. The leadership transition is expected to ensure continuity in the company’s strategic direction while fostering innovation and growth in key sectors such as telecommunications, retail, and renewable energy.
