Resolute Mining - defers sulphide plant maintenance shutdown to mid-June 2026, extends by one week
Resolute Mining Limited (ASX:RSG) has announced that it has deferred the scheduled maintenance shutdown of the sulphide processing plant at its Syama Gold Mine in Mali to mid-June 2026, with the shutdown now expected to last for an additional week. The original maintenance period, planned for May 2026, has been postponed due to ongoing operational challenges at the site, including logistical and supply chain disruptions linked to security concerns in the region.
The extended shutdown will allow for additional preventative maintenance work aimed at improving the long-term reliability and performance of the plant. Management stated that the extra time will be used to address key operational issues and enhance processing efficiency during the remainder of 2026.
The decision to reschedule follows a period of reduced production at Syama, where second-quarter gold output is now expected to be approximately 30,000 ounces, below the previously anticipated range of 40,000–45,000 ounces. The company has attributed the lower production to delays in accessing higher-grade ore and disruptions in the supply of critical equipment and materials.
Despite the production shortfall, Resolute Mining has maintained its full-year production guidance of 195,000–210,000 ounces, with expectations that performance will improve in the second half of the year as operational conditions stabilise. The company is also progressing with its Doropo Gold Project in Côte d'Ivoire and continues to advance exploration activities across its portfolio.
Investors will be watching closely for updates on the effectiveness of the extended maintenance program and the broader recovery of Syama’s operations in the coming months.
