Polibeli signs non-binding MOU to evaluate potential 100 MW AI computing center project in Thailand

Polibeli Group Ltd. (PLBL) has entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) to evaluate the feasibility of a potential 100 MW AI computing center project in Thailand, according to a recent SEC filing. The proposed initiative aligns with Thailand’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional hub for data center and AI infrastructure. The country has seen significant investment in recent years, with the Board of Investment (BOI) approving at least 38 data center projects in 2025 alone, representing a combined investment value of approximately THB 458 billion (~US$14.5 billion). Additional projects are in the pipeline, with seven more approved in early 2026.

Thailand’s data center market is expanding rapidly, driven by demand from financial institutions, government agencies, and multinational technology firms seeking to comply with local data residency laws and reduce latency for regional operations. The country’s regulatory environment, including BOI incentives such as corporate income tax exemptions and foreign ownership flexibility, has made it an attractive destination for large-scale infrastructure investments.

However, the development of such projects involves complex regulatory, environmental, and infrastructure considerations. For example, large-scale data centers require extensive grid connectivity, which remains a bottleneck in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), where most new facilities are concentrated. Additionally, environmental assessments and zoning approvals must be secured, and operators must comply with stringent certification requirements, such as ISO/IEC 27001, to qualify for tax incentives.

Polibeli’s proposed AI computing center would need to navigate these challenges, including securing power procurement arrangements and ensuring compliance with local regulations. While the MOU does not represent a binding commitment, it signals the company’s interest in exploring opportunities within Thailand’s growing AI and data center ecosystem. The project’s success will depend on the alignment of regulatory, technical, and financial factors over the long term.
