TL;DR

OnePlus 15 US preorders are now open after FCC clearance delays, starting at $899.99 with free watch or earbuds options. The phone features a large 7,300mAh battery and will ship in 12 days, with a more affordable 15R model launching soon.

The 15 is available in this “sand storm” finish, along with black or violet.

OnePlus has launched its delayed US preorders for the flagship OnePlus 15, almost a month after the phone was revealed. The company has been able to start taking orders after receiving FCC clearance for the device — initially held back because of the government shutdown.

The OnePlus 15 starts from $899.99 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, jumping to 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage for an extra $100. Anyone who preorders can claim an optional freebie, including the smaller 43mm OnePlus Watch 3 or a pair of Buds 3 Pro earbuds.

In our review, my colleague Allison Johnson praised the 15 first and foremost for its enormous 7,300mAh battery, which “easily” lasted two days in her testing, despite the fact that the phone itself is a pretty regular size. That’s thanks to silicon-carbon battery technology, which OnePlus is just about the only major brand in the US to have adopted so far.

Although preorders have opened, the store page says it will take another 12 days for the first OnePlus 15 phones to ship to customers. The phone will also be available from Amazon and Best Buy.

The preorders arrive just before OnePlus launches the more affordable 15R, which is scheduled for a full reveal on December 17th. We already know that it will be the first phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a slightly less powerful chip than the 8 Elite Gen 5 found in the 15.
