Kongsberg CEO: We have built up capacity, building factories
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has been actively expanding its production capacity to meet rising demand for its defence products, particularly in the missile sector. The company has opened a new missile production facility in Norway and additional factories in Australia and the United States. These developments are part of a broader strategy to increase output and ensure timely delivery of orders amid a growing global defence market.
The company’s CEO, Geir Håøy, noted that the Defence & Aerospace unit is experiencing record-high market activity, driven by increased defence budgets in Europe and other regions. Kongsberg’s order intake for the second quarter of 2025 reached 18.18 billion Norwegian crowns, with the Defence & Aerospace segment accounting for 54% of the total. The company’s EBITDA for the quarter rose 28% year-on-year to 2.33 billion crowns, exceeding analyst expectations.
To support its expansion, Kongsberg plans to invest 3% to 5% of its sales into capacity-building initiatives, primarily in the defence sector. The company also emphasized the importance of supply chain coordination in maintaining production efficiency. With a record order backlog of NOK 100 billion in 2024, Kongsberg is well positioned to capitalize on sustained demand in the coming years.
