On February 4, Ripple integrated its decentralized derivatives protocol Hyperliquid into its institutional-grade prime brokerage platform, Ripple Prime, marking the first time the platform has directly supported DeFi.
Through this integration, Ripple Prime clients can manage their on-chain derivatives positions in Hyperliquid, as well as their risk exposure from centralized crypto markets and traditional assets such as forex and fixed income, all under the same prime brokerage framework.
Ripple stated that institutional clients connecting to Hyperliquid will still only interact with Ripple Prime as a counterparty, and all positions will be managed under a unified risk and margin system. This reflects the continued increase in institutional participation in the DeFi market, and Ripple Prime plans to further support both centralized and decentralized liquidity venues in the future.
