Iran foreign minister speaks at press conference in Baghdad

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi is in Baghdad for high-level discussions with Iraqi officials, including a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein. The talks come amid heightened regional tensions, particularly concerning the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon. During the meeting, both ministers condemned the military actions of the Israeli regime and called for urgent international intervention to address the humanitarian crisis and prevent further destruction of infrastructure.

The discussions also focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Iran and Iraq, with both sides emphasizing expanding cooperation in various fields of mutual interest. Earlier in the week, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian had met with Iraqi political leader Nouri al-Maliki, who underscored deepening ties with Iran as part of Iraq’s broader foreign policy strategy.
