BOE's G8.6 AMOLED production line in Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone enters mass production with design capacity of 32,000 glass substrates/month

BOE Technology Group has announced that its G8.6 AMOLED production line in the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone has entered mass production, five months ahead of schedule. The facility, which represents a $9 billion investment, is largest single industrial project in Sichuan Province to date. The line is designed to produce 32,000 glass substrates per month, with a focus on high-end touch panels for laptops and tablets, commonly referred to as IT AMOLEDs.

The company aims to be the first in the world to mass produce OLED IT panels using an 8.6-Gen line. Originally scheduled for Q4 2026, BOE now expects to begin mass production in Q3 2026, potentially outpacing Samsung Display, which also plans to start production in the same quarter. This advancement underscores BOE’s strategic push to strengthen its position in the global AMOLED market and meet growing demand for flexible and high-performance display technologies.
