Spoilers follow for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple!
With the second film in the new 28 Years Later trilogy now in theaters -- which is also the fourth movie in the series overall after 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later -- we spoke with The Bone Temple director Nia DaCosta (Candyman, The Marvels) and star Jack O'Connell (Sinners, Back to Black) about the latest foray into the world of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's infected.
While 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is actually a fun movie despite being about the end of the world, it's also an intense experience, which should come as no surprise. In particular, the character of Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal is something to behold, with O'Connell really bringing it as this cult leader who grew to adulthood in the age of the Rage virus. The actor and director filled us in on the past, present, and potential (?) future of ol' Jimmy.
And then there's Samson, the infected who is maybe more than just an infected. This is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the new film, and DaCosta explains to us the process of figuring out how a creature like Samson might evolve.
And last but not least, there's also the return of Cillian Murphy's Jim. The main character of the original 28 Days Later movie, he's finally back in the final moments of The Bone Temple. What was it like shooting that scene, and what does it mean moving forward and for 28 Years Later Part 3? Watch the full video for all that and more!
