General Dynamics Land Systems signs strategic partnership with government of Canada to advance defence industrial strategy

General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada (GDLS–Canada) has continued to strengthen its role in Canada’s defence industrial base through over 600 domestic suppliers, spanning small and medium-sized enterprises, Indigenous-owned businesses, and large strategic partners. This extensive supply chain supports the production of advanced armoured vehicles and related systems, contributing to both national security and economic development. The company’s operations in London, Ontario, employ over 1,700 workers and have delivered more than 11,000 vehicles to allied nations since the 1970s.

The company’s activities align with the federal government’s Defence Industrial Strategy, which emphasizes the importance of domestic innovation, procurement efficiency, and industrial capacity. General Dynamics’ Canadian operations, including GDLS–Canada, collectively represent approximately 25 per cent of the country’s defence industrial base and contribute $3 billion annually to the economy. These operations also support thousands of high-skill jobs and have invested over $400 million in Canadian research and development in the past decade.

Through initiatives such as the General Dynamics Battle Lab, the company is working to accelerate the integration of new technologies with the Canadian Armed Forces. Additionally, the company’s collaboration with the Defence Investment Agency aims to streamline procurement processes and ensure that emerging technologies can be rapidly fielded. As Canada continues to modernize its defence capabilities, General Dynamics’ Canadian operations remain a key player in supporting national security and economic resilience.
