“Like many before them, these whistleblowers showed courage and commitment to the public interest,” Cynthia Lie, acting director of the Whistleblower Office, said in a statement. “They provided critical assistance that helped the Commission identify fraud and return unlawfully obtained funds to American investors.”
The regulator didn’t identify the whistleblowers or the specific enforcement actions that were involved.
The CFTC’s whistleblower program was established under the Dodd-Frank Act in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. The program has granted more than $395 million to whistleblowers since 2014.
