Flying High
Hundreds of snow geese take flight from a pond in Kearney, Nebraska. The region is a known stopping point for these birds in mid-February to early March as they migrate up to their breeding grounds in the Arctic tundra. The area is also known as the "Sandhill Crane Capital of the World," with more than 80 percent of sandhill crane birds passing through the Platte River Valley during this migration period.
