The Bank of Japan hints at further interest rate hikes.

On January 5, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda stated that the central bank will continue to raise benchmark interest rates if its economic outlook is realized. Speaking briefly at a New Year's meeting hosted by the Japan Bankers Association, Ueda said that appropriately adjusting monetary easing policies would help achieve stable inflation and longer-term economic growth.
