U.S. State Department approves potential sale of missiles to Denmark for $842 million

The U.S. State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to Denmark involving advanced defense equipment for an estimated total value of $842 million. This includes two major arms sales: a $45 million package of AGM-114R Hellfire missiles and related equipment, and a $951 million AMRAAM-ER sale and associated support. The Hellfire missile package includes up to 100 missiles, launchers, test equipment, and logistical support, with Lockheed Martin Missile and Defense serving as the principal contractor. The AMRAAM-ER sale, valued at up to $951 million, includes 236 missiles and support services, with RTX Corporation as lead contractor.

The State Department emphasized that these sales align with U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing Denmark’s defense capabilities and interoperability with U.S. and NATO forces. Both sales are expected to have no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness and will not alter the basic military balance in the region. Implementation of these sales does not require U.S. personnel deployment to Denmark. The transactions are subject to final negotiations and budgetary approvals, with costs potentially varying from estimates.
