Iraq's ports authority says operations in Faw port unaffected after drone crash - state news agency

Iraq's ports authority has confirmed that operations at the Grand Faw Port project remain unaffected following a drone crash at the construction site in Basra province on Wednesday. According to a well-informed source, an unidentified drone fell into an open area within the port complex before exploding and catching fire. The incident resulted in minor material damage but no casualties were reported.

Separately, Iraqi security officials stated that a drone attack caused an explosion on a cargo ship approximately 74 kilometers southeast of Umm Qasr, another key port city in southern Iraq. The attack led to a fire on the vessel, which was later brought under control. No injuries were recorded in that incident either.

The Grand Faw Port, a major infrastructure project aimed at boosting Iraq's maritime trade capacity, continues to operate without disruption, according to the state news agency. Authorities have not yet identified the origin or intent behind the drone incidents.
