Trump will hand out World Cup trophy: FIFA president to Fox
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump will participate in the presentation of the World Cup trophy at the 2026 final, which is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. During an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Infantino stated that Trump will join him in handing the trophy to the winning team’s captain. This arrangement mirrors Trump’s involvement in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final, where he remained on stage after initially being expected to exit.
The U.S. government has demonstrated strong support for the 2026 World Cup through the establishment of a White House-led task force, which will oversee preparations for both the 2025 Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup. The task force, chaired by President Trump, aims to ensure the events are well-coordinated and secure, with an anticipated economic impact of approximately USD 40 billion and the creation of 200,000 jobs. The tournaments are expected to attract over 10 million visitors and generate significant economic activity across the host nations of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
